Second livre des chansons et cantiques spirituelles, le tout mis en musique à quatre parties, en quatre livres. (DuChemin, 1555) [J453] F Pn (T)
Clément Marot is the author of the psalm paraphrases set in LMN 296 and LMN 297, based on psalms 114 and 115. Authorship of the texts for the other settings is not known. Of all the pieces in this collection, only LMN 305 “Grace te rends” can be transcribed in a complete state, from RISM 1568-9 (Rigaud, Lyon) preserved in the Bibliotheque Municipale, Reims, ResP 1572. Only the tenor voice is known for the remaining works. The Second livre is discussed in Chapter 10 of Clément Janequin: French Composer at the Dawn of Music Publishing.
